The benchmark of global food commodity prices eased in May, as significant drops in international quotations for maize and palm oil outweighed the high prices for dairy and bovine meat, flags the latest FAO Food Price Index. The Price Index, which tracks monthly fluctuations in the international prices of a set of globally traded food commodities, averaged 127.7 points in May, down 0.8% from April. Despite the monthly decline, the index remained 6% higher than its level a year earlier.
